We are Eelke and Carlien, proud owners of the Lena Maria!
Since 2020 we are proud owners of the Lena Maria. She offers us the possibility to combine our passions for boating and hospitality. Boating is in our blood, and hospitality is what drives us. With boutiquecruises Lena Maria we want to make sure every guest feels at home and receives a personalized service.
In summer, Eelke acts as skipper and ensures that everyone can get on their bike without any worries during the Boat Bike Tours. In winter, he hosts the Lena Maria when it is located at the Oosterdok (Amsterdam) as a hotel. He also carries out maintenance of the ship. Carlien is busy behind the scenes. There is plenty to do with running a boutique hotel ship and raising two children.
Eelke has been on the water almost his whole life; sailing with small sailboats on the Frisian Lakes to boating on mega yachts in the Caribbean and the South Pole. With his experience in hospitality, he will make sure every guest will have an amazing stay on the Lena Maria. In 2018 he started working as captain on a bicycle-boating ship. This is where the idea of doing this with a ship of their own started. The Lena Maria was the perfect vessel to make the dream come true. It’s small enough for a personal atmosphere and large enough for sufficient comfort.
You will always be welcomed by someone from our enthusiastic crew. During our Boat Bike Tours there are at least four crewmembers present. In winter you will also be welcomed in our hotel by someone from our crew. There is always someone available to answer any of your questions. This way you can enjoy your stay on the Lena Maria without any worries.
